⚠️ Miami-Dade: Hurricane Code (HVHZ)

All solar installations in Miami-Dade must meet High-Velocity Hurricane Zone code. Adds $1,000-3,000 to cost. Any installer who doesn't mention this is a red flag.

Red flags: walk away if you hear these

The honest list of Miami-Dade solar sales tactics that should end a conversation.
"You get the 30% federal credit."On a 2026 cash/loan purchase, false. Section 25D expired Dec 31, 2025. Why →
"Sign today or the price goes up."Manufactured urgency. A real quote holds for a reasonable window. Pressure is a tactic, not a deadline.
No NOA numbers for your assembly.Miami-Dade HVHZ requires current Notice of Acceptance for the exact racking and mounting. "It's all certified" isn't an answer.
Savings %, but no kWh estimate."Save 90%!" with no written production estimate and shading analysis is marketing, not engineering.
A system far bigger than your usage.FPL pays retail only to 115% of your history. Oversizing pads their invoice, not your savings.
Lease pitch with no escalator disclosed.Every lease/PPA has terms: annual escalator, buyout, transfer-on-sale. If they won't put them in writing, stop.

FPL full-retail net metering confirmed still in effect

Our monthly check: 1:1 retail credits (~13.7¢/kWh) remain the law under PSC Rule 25-6.065. Beware national sites quoting the vetoed 2022 phase-down as current law.

FPL's four-year rate settlement took effect

Approved by the PSC in Nov 2025; consumer advocates estimate ~$6.9B in added charges through 2029. Every rate hike makes solar production worth more.

December 31, 2025 · Federal

The 30% federal credit expired for purchases

Section 25D ended under the OBBBA. 2026 cash/loan purchases get $0 federal credit; the 30% now flows only through lease/PPA structures. Details at Rebate Station.

How Miami Solar Group Works

We're a directory, not an installer.

Miami Solar Group is an independent resource for Miami-Dade homeowners. We do not install panels, hold your contact information, or sell leads. When you contact an installer listed here, you're contacting them directly.

How we make money

Installers pay for banner placement on this site. All paid placements are labeled "Sponsored." We verify that listed installers are licensed in Miami-Dade County. We do not guarantee their work or pricing.
